On pitches

We commission criticism and essays on the modern French novel and the ideas around it. A paragraph on the argument you want to make is worth more than a synopsis. We prefer a clear position, plainly held, to a survey.

We engage authors as subjects, third person and critically. We do not publish author self-representation, publicity, or paid placement in the review’s editorial pages.
